The silverfish ingest the boric acid when they groom themselves or eat the insulation which causes them to die. But the insect known as the silverfish does come in through your exterior walls and has no problem breathing in your attic. Sprinkle boric acid on and around a cracker and place it as poison bait. Unfortunately these pests are nocturnal.

I read online that they are not of any health concern so maybe i should just forget about it. Since insulation is found in the attic generally one of the least trafficked spaces in the home it can certainly become home to these and other pests. The attic is often a good choice for them because it is not dehumidified by the ac in the summer or the heat in the winter. Seems they are eating the old paper backing that is falling off the old batt insulation.
